There are several ways that you can contribute to CyntoPedia.

  • Writing a New Article - If you are searching for a specific article on a specific topic and there are no articles currently in the database for your topic, you will be presented with the option to create the article. Before creating an article, please make sure that your topic is spelled correctly and that it has not been entered under a slight variation of the title. They CyntoPedia database is case sensitive. You must use proper letter cases when adding your entries. Also make sure that you can provide credible online references for the content that you plan to contribute. Unreferenced facts or questionable references are subject to removal.
  • Making Corrections or Adding Information to Existing Articles - Unless an article is locked, it will have a link above it that says "edit this page." This allows you to make corrections, changes or add content to the page that you are currently on. If you add information to a page, you must provide credible references. Unreferenced facts or questionable references are subject to removal. If you wish to request a change or correction to a page that is locked, please contact help@cyntopedia.com.

Rules for Editing CyntoPedia

These rules apply to everyone who contributes to the content on CyntoPedia. CyntoPedia reserves the right to ban any users who break these rules.

  • Users must have approval from any respective company or individual that they mention in their articles.
  • Content must be written in a non-biased manner and tone. It must be free of personal opinions. Do not use wording like "is the greatest" or "has been described as." This expresses a personal opinion which is not appropriate for this encyclopedia.
  • Content must be written in sentence case and formatted into paragraph(s). Do not post content that is written in all capital letters, all lower case letters or inappropriately spaced. You may use this Case Converter utility to convert text if it has already been typed improperly. Use of headlines, subheads, bulleted lists and numbered lists are also encouraged. These can be created with the use of Wiki Text (See Below).
  • Content should be free from typos and other grammatical errors. Please double check your submissions before you post to CyntoPedia.
  • Content should be kept organized. When submitting an article, look at the other articles in your category to get an idea of how the layout, headings and subheadings should be treated.
  • Use Wiki Text to link to other related articles on CyntoPedia inside of the article you are writing. If the article you are linking to does not exist yet and you do not wish to write it, including it in your article may encourage another to write it.
  • Credible References must be cited for any information that you add to CyntoPedia. Unreferenced facts or facts cited by questionable references are subject to removal. Questionable references include non professional websites, wikipedia entries, personal blogs or forum entries. Good references include the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Encyclopedia Britannica Online, CNN.com, and other professional websites.
  • References must be properly cited using Wiki Text (See Below).
  • New articles must be assigned at least one category using Wiki Text (See Below). A complete list of Categories can be found here. Note that CyntoPedia categories are singular. If you add an "s" to the end of your category, it will not function properly. If you find that a category needs to be added to the Publishing or Cinema portal, please send your request to the administrator at help@cyntopedia.com

Wiki Text

When editing an article, use Wiki Text to format your content properly. When editing, you will see buttons above the text field. Like Microsoft Word and other text editing software, these buttons do basic formatting, such as making your highlighted text Bold or Italic and adding Internal Links and Add External Links. When using these buttons, you will see that they add the correct Wiki Text to your text field. Below is a list of simple Wiki Text formatting options and how they effect your content.

Wiki text Result
''italic'' (two single quote marks on each side) italic
'''bold''' (three single quote marks on each side) bold
'''''bold and italic''''' (five single quote marks on each side) bold and italic
